Hailing from Los Angeles, textile artist and budding jewellery designer Kayla Mattes’ Summer Camp Collection has us here at The Style Net more than a little excited. Eco-friendly, neon and something a little different certainly checks our boxes!
With names like ‘1st KISS buy the council fire’, ‘Friendships 4 a Lifetime’, and ‘how I spent my summer vacation’, it is no wonder that the debut collection is inspired by Mattes Summer memories as young girl. The nostalgic collection pays tribute to the lanyard-braiding phenomenon by pairing the same lanyard knots used in summer camp with machine knitted cords.
Pairing neons with pastels, browns and blues the collection is bold enough to make a statement yet has the ability to not overpower a outfit and slip right into your closet. Mattes said, “I suppose in my mind the consumer who wears SUMMER CAMP embraces color, pattern, and the unusual. They get that ‘KITSCH IS RICH’”. We certainly agree and can’t wait to see what she does next!
